How is your furniture constructed?
The In-House collection is constructed by mortice and tenon joinery which are made using simple machineries. This is also referred to as “hand made”.
What does it mean by hand made?
“Hand made” refers to the use of simple (motorised) machineries in the making of your furniture. Compare this to “Machine made”, where modern machineries is used. However do note that this is a difference in the construction processes, where the timber component that makes your furniture is being cut and shaped. In other production processes, such as assembling, they are both assembled by hand.
Will the metal fittings on my furniture last as long as the teak?
All metal fittings used in our collections are made form rust free materials, such as brass, galvanised or stainless steel. They should last as long as your teak furniture.
Is the brass hardware used on your furniture plated or coated?
The brass hardware in our furniture is plated not coated. This ensures that the fittings does not rust or corrode and should last as long as your teak furniture.
Why is it that TGW In-House collection does not come in natural finish?
The In-House collection is made form B Grade teak, as such it does not contain as much natural oil as the A Grade. Thus, it needed to be finished and coated by additional oiling. It is also the nature of B Grade teak to have more colour variations and this is the reason why we stain our In-House collection.
Can I get them in other stain/finish?
Unfortunately, it is not possible to have them in other stain or finish, as we only have one standard finish. However, you are free to finish your teak furniture in whatever stain you may choose once the original stain faded or should you choose to scrap and sand the finishing existing piece.
Where do you get your designs from?
The designs found in our In-House collection are a combination of our own design and those commonly found in the market place. Any of the designs must go through our design creative and R&D team to make sure that they have the quality standard we promised.
